Wills has found a special someone to share the rest of his life with!

Wills is a sweet little senior Chihuahua who is enjoying some relaxing time with his new foster mom.

His foster mom tells us he is a very loving little boy, she is really enjoying her time with Wills.  He enjoys sitting on comfy knees, has found his favourite blanket to curl up on, isn’t a barker and is a very polite little boy.  He asks to go outside and is quiet as can be!

Wills recently had surgery to remove a few decaying teeth and his foster mom reports he is doing very well since his surgery.

Please consider adopting a senior – no worries about digging holes, chewing your favourite shoes or needing constant attention to play….seniors make wonderful pets.  All they ask is to have a safe place to lay their heads at night, someone to put their arms around them and a loving home to enjoy their s

enior years.

He is up to date on all vaccinations including rabies, neutered and microchipped.

Adoption Fee:  $250

Special Words from his Foster Mom -

Sweet William (Wills)
This tiny four pound bundle of love arrived on May 29th from Missouri as nobody wanted him.  He was overlooked due to his gnarled foot and a penis that wouldn’t fully retract. But I can assure you that he was loved by his previous family as he came to us fully pad trained and outside trained, there is not an aggressive bone in his little body, and loves to be carried like a baby. He is so very gentle, loves laying in the sunshine, and of course on your lap. He sleeps on the couch cuddled in his blankets from eight at night until eight in the morning, and not a peep from him. Everyone who meets our Wills loves him, and of course he loves everyone in return, not a bit shy, everyone is his friend. In the two months that he’s been in foster care, he’s only barked twice, which is unusual for a Chihauaha. Wills is eight years old and every afternoon gets his growler on. He loves to play with your hand and growls, but never ever would bite.  Every once in a while he will chew his blanket, but I take the blanket away and replace with a doggie rope, this habit is becoming less and less as time goes on.  He is a hopper and have trained him to use a stool to get up on the couch, which he mastered in twenty four hours. Because of his size Wills will not be placed in a home with large dogs, however he gets along and loves his foster’s female Chi.  Wills would make a remarkable companion for an older lady, he has so much love to give but was never given the chance. You have to look past the exterior, into his little soul which is so very full of love.
trevor

Trevor safely arrived to our rescue in Chatham on May 29, 2011 after enduring the recent tornado in Joplin, Missouri.  Trevor has quickly adapted to his new foster family and is having a lot of fun being a dog!  He’s cuddly, loves attention and is a patient little guy when it’s time for lunch, dinner and sometimes he gets a little overanxious when it’s treat time!

Trevor enjoys running outside in the yard, playing with plenty of doggie toys, loves to go for a walk and will need some training on a leash as he is so excited to be with you on a walk.  He loves to explore!  He gets along well with other foster dogs and family dogs, facinated with the family cat and barks to let the cat know he’s in the room too.  Trevor is a good listener when you tell him no and he does fine when crated for short periods of time.  Trevor’s only flaw is jumping up when he’s excited to see you walk in the door or wants some attention.  His foster family is working on him to stay down and he’s starting to learn that jumping is not acceptable.  We have no doubt once he is with his own forever family who will take the time to teach him, he will make the perfect family addition!  Trevor is very eager to learn.

This adorable little guy is available for adoption now.  He’s up to date on all vaccinations including rabies, neutered and microchipped.

Adoption Fee:  $250

UPDATE:  Adopted June 2011

pete

Pete (aka Petey boy or Sweet Pete) has really started to come out of his shell since living with his foster family.  He is still somewhat fearful of men but slowly coming around to realize not all men are people to fear.  Pete absolutely loves the gentle touch and one-on-one attention from women.  Pete  really enjoys it when women talk to him and gently rub his ears and gives his back a tender massage.  When approached the first time, he prefers the introduction to be done slowly so he knows he has a new friend who just wants to give him some love.

He’s adorable when he knows it’s time to eat, he will sit patiently by the counter wagging his little tail with a happy face.  He is doing well with training and loves to go outside.  Pete runs to the fence to greet a little neighbourhood boy and barks to say “Hi”.  He enjoys rolling on his back on a sunny day and have his tummy rubbed.  Pete is also fascinated with the foster family’s cat.  When he wants to play, he will run to the cat and bark to tell her to give him some time!

Pete has learned to walk on a leash and is doing great, he loves to explore.  When he first arrived, he would just sit when the leash was put on his collar.  His foster family gave him some time and when he saw how excited the other family dogs were when the leashes came out, it didn’t take him long to figure out a leash is a good thing!  Pete is learning to stay before crossing the street.  He still has some learning to do and with the right forever family, he will be an absolute joy!

Pete would do well with a mature couple who have plenty of time to shower him with all the love!  While he’s fine with the foster family dogs, Pete tends prefer to be an “only child” to be spoiled every day!

When Pete arrived on May 29, he was extremely shy around men.  He’s come a long way since he first came to our rescue.  Pete is a foster favourite because of his regal demeanour, he is a little king!

He is up to date on all vaccinations including rabies, neutered and microchipped.

Adoption Fee:  $250

If interested in sharing your life with Pete, please contact our Adoptions Coordinator to request an Adoption Application.

Samson… ADOPTED!

In Loving Memory of Toby

I remember the first time I saw Toby.  I was looking on Petfinder for info on our rescue dogs that where up for adoption so I could post them on Kijiji to help find them new homes.

As soon as I saw his little face and his funny little expression I knew that I didn’t need to post him because he had his forever home, here with my family.

When Karen first arrived with him he was scared, but shortly after meeting my little boys that spirit I saw came out and he was home sweet home.  He played with my kids all day long and after they went to bed he would come over to cuddle up on my lap. He gave so much love from his heart and filled this home with that.

I remeber all the tiny little kisses, all the nights that we watched t.v together.  Every night I would kiss him and tuck him into bed for the night.

I remember how he played with my sons, playing fetch and ran around with them and hearing their laughter.  I remember when he started to warm up to my husband he would come over and say good morning to him, or jump up on his lap just to give him a kiss.

Even sometimes he would sneak into bed with my daughter and cuddle in so close to her you wouldn’t even know that he was there, how she would pick him up and they would dance together.

As you can see Toby brought so much to this home, he brought so much love, happiness and such wonderful memories. Even though it was for just a short time, he gave us a life time of love and happiness. He was special in so many ways, more then anyone could ever imagine.  Me and my family where blessed with this tiny miracle and he will be missed dearly and will be held close to are hearts now and forever.
