Haily Butler-Henderson spearheaded a fundraising walk for our rescues on Sunday, June 26, 2011.  It was a beautiful day!  The sky was blue, the sun was out and a warm summer breeze greeted Haily and her supporters to start her walk from Chatham to Tilbury to raise awareness and money for CK Animal Rescue.  We can’t thank Haily and her family enough for their support for our precious rescues! Haily’s compassionate love for animals gives her the determination to walk for them.  To us, Haily is our hero and will always have a special place in all our hearts!  Thank you Haily from everyone at CK Animal Rescue!

Many of the people who attended the start of this fundraisers walked with Haily to start her off with a huge show of support!  We want to thank Maggie, Roy, Joel, Dave and Cassidy for going the distance with Haily!

Our goal was to raise $500 at the Kinsmen Auditorium’s garage sale today, and we blew past our goal by at least $200!  Thanks to our many supporters for their donations in baked goods and items for today’s indoor garage sale!

It was a busy week with items being pick up donated over the past two weeks and items being dropped off.  We had two pickup trucks loaded plus the volunteers who helped at the sale also donated items to help us achieve our goal.  We were all busy today, up very early, at the auditorium to set up for 7 am and people were already stopping in by 7:30 to do get the early bird deals.  Many people stopped by our tables which were filled to the brim, on the floor, at the side of our table…..we had so much to offer everyone who stopped by to meet us.

We also sold raffle tickets to win a beautiful gift basket filled with everything from BBQ tools, gardening gloves and tools, gourmet candles, electric candle warmer, place mats, picture frames and so much more!  Right before the garage sale closed for the day at 12:30 pm.,  all the tickets went into a basket and the lucky winner was chosen – Congratulations to Joanne Wales!

Thank you to the following volunteers for helping out today in so many ways today!

*Steve and Stacey for making our beautiful displays showing our adopted dogs, our rescues who are waiting for their own families and our rescues who will soon be arriving.  These displays attracted many people today who were also very interested in learning more about what we do, how to become a volunteer/foster and how they could get involved.

*Myriam for donating the raffle tickets, our thermometer gauge poster and very cute picture for our gift basket raffle. It was pure joy to mark the thermometer with every purchase to see our goal getting closer and finally blowing off the top!

*Karen R. for spending her day with us and  keeping the tables stocked with items.  When two tables close by opened up, she immediately got permission to use the tables for the sale of books, CD’s and movies – she gave everybody a bargain for buying a bag full of books or movies!

*Kelly for drawing in the crowd to purchase raffle tickets for the gift basket.  She was wonderful at greeting the visitors and invited them all to stop by to spend $1.00 for a chance to win and talk about our rescue.

* Wendy for reserving our tables and making several trips to pick up donated items.  She was a huge help to accommodate everyone who had something to donate.  She also helped keep the tables filled and organized to make sure the visitors could see everything we had to offer today.

*To everyone who cleaned out their closets, basements, garages –  your donations made today a BIG success for our rescue!

Our Ohio rescue dogs arrived safe and sound in Chatham Kent, Ontario on January 8/11.  They were all so excited to finally feel the ground on their feet and the pleasure of walking around outside the confines of a kennel.

Each one of these dogs is very friendly, playful, loving.  Reese has some issues of being fearful of new people, but within a few minutes he’s seeking attention and love when he feels assured he’s with good people who won’t hurt him.  All of these dogs are beautiful and deserve a long happy life with great families!

David is celebrating his special day today – his now has his own forever home! He is a wonderful, happy, friendly little guy who no longer has a care in the world.
He was found at a shelter by rescue friends and after months of him going unnoticed, we moved him to our foster program to give this great little guy the chance he deserves! And it happened today!
Thanks to his foster family and his adopters for sharing your love with David!

Hayley had endured years of sadness before arriving in our rescue. Her fosters couldn’t resist her sweetness and gave her the life she deserved all along.
Thank you for giving her so much love and care, she is one lucky girl!

Sweet little Chilly was found cowering in the corner of a gloomy shelter. He had such a desperate look on his face we knew we couldn’t leave him there.
He is one of the nicest little guys you could ever hope to meet! Thanks to his foster families and his adopters for giving Chilly the second chance he so deserves!

Sweet Sammy has been with us a few weeks patiently waiting for his turn to celebrate with his special family – adopted! Sweet words for a great little guy! He is especially happy to have his own kids to keep him company too!
We are all thrilled for this little cutie, and wish him a lifetime of hugs and kisses that he deserves. Thanks to his foster family and his adopters for giving Sammy a brand new start!

Tiny came to our rescue with her mom and dad, she is the cutest little girl with a sparkling personality! Her name suits her because she is so tiny, playful and full of life!
We wish her a lifetime of happiness! Thanks to her foster family and her adopters for sharing your lives and love with Tiny!
