We had a very successful fundraising BBQ at the PetValu location on Richmond Street, Chatham! Many supporters stopped by to buy a hotdog and pop or to donate to our rescue. The sun was shining, the sky was blue and a gentle breeze blew to keep the humidity down for the day.
Thanks to the staff of PetValu for inviting us to participate in this Canada Day weekend event! We appreciate your support and look forward to the next event!

What a great event for dog lovers!! Puppy Pawlooza 2012 held just outside of London was an event to attend if you need to get a doggie fix. Every breed and size of dogs imaginable attended Pawlooza. The weather was perfect, there were many vendors eager to show their products and hand out samples along with many rescues from across Ontario.
The following pictures highlight why this is the event to attend – watch for us next year!
Our second annual rescue reunion was held Sunday, September 9, 2012 and we consider it to be a huge success! To say we have grown since our first reunion in 2011 is an understatement. Close to 300 invitations were sent out, and we estimate at least 150-200 people came to join us on this special day of reuniting with our new extended members of our rescue family…..our adopters. It was heart warming to see many of our four legged friends once again, many we had not seen since last year’s reunion. Our reunions provide the perfect opportunity for everyone to catch up from last year! And we sure did!
Not only did everyone enjoy a tasty BBQ and potluck complete with many delicious salads and other dishes, including yummy desserts, but we also had some other talented guests with us this year!
Our day was highlighted with staff from Michael’s demonstrating making collars from duct tape. Who knew that duct tape could look so beautiful! Many of our furry friends were sporting original, very cute duct tape collars with a lot of “bling” to them!
Thanks to Chatham’s Michael’s Craft Store for sending two of their very friendly, enthusiastic staff to spend the day with us!
This year we had two very talented musicians joining us to put some music in the air! ’57 Chevy with Glenn Smith and Dave Richie did an amazing job for our reunion. We heard many compliments about this singing duo and how much everyone enjoyed the music. We hope they will join us again next year. Thanks guys!
Our pet photographer, Nicole from NCS Photography, was also on hand to take our huge group picture which was a lot of fun for everybody! Thanks to Nicole’s husband, West, for being there to help coordinate everybody with seating arrangements to get a great picture….and we did! It was a wonderful memory and prints are available by contacting Nicole. Thanks Nicole and West for sharing our special day with us!
Our little mascot, John Henry, and his little 13 year old buddy Cosmo, dropped in to attend our reunion. These boys were riding in style in their convertible stroller…..these little guys certainly got a lot of attention and they wore their handsome tuxedos for our special day!
We have many people to thank for making this event so special for all of us – our foster families, volunteers, shelter staff, volunteer drivers, coordinators. You all play such an important role in our rescue mission to complete the circle of success in saving lives. Thank you for going the extra mile for these dogs. They are precious gifts that we will always treasure.
Watch our Slideshow highlighing our 2012 Reunion! See you next year!
Our recent open house held on October 20, 2012, was a wonderful time for everyone who attended! We received many compliments on our new office which feels more like home. This is a place we are all very proud to call ours! The goal behind the decorating was to give a feel of warmth, comfort, inviting to anyone who came through the door…..mission accomplished!
This space will be used for meetings, social events, photo shoots for our rescues, fundraisers and to offer a homey atmosphere to long distance adopters who travel many miles to meet their new companions on four legs. We welcome pets to come with their guardians, this is their place as much as ours. Thank you to all the volunteers who donated food and time to make our open house such an incredible memory! Enjoy a few pictures from our day
This year we are having our first official Christmas Party! We are all very excited to celebrate our first two years saving lives and this is a time to relax, enjoy the new friendships we’ve made throughout the past few months and have some fun! So please mark your calendars, and join us!

Our Purple Leash walk, held on Sunday, November 4/12, was a huge success and we could not be more proud! The number of people who came to walk with us was truly an overwhelming experience that we will never forget. Many of the two legged and four legged participants wore purple which represents rescue.
This was our first annual walk to raise awareness for innocent pet victims who are caught in the middle of domestic violence in the home. Our goal is to recruit a team of foster families with experience with many different types of pets to be an alternative option for these pets to be placed out of harms way. And we want people to remember there are many different types of victims of domestic violence.
We also walked In Memory of Krista O’Leary. Krista was one of our fun, loving, amazing foster moms who took her role of foster mom very serious. Several of our little rescues spent time with Krista and her family. We were very fortunate to know her. She taught her children about compassion and giving to help innocent animals in need. We miss her and will walk in Krista’s memory in the future.
Please visit our Purple Leash Page for more information and how you help us in our mission!
Thank you to the volunteers and doggies who represented our rescue at the Chatham Christmas parade this year, we thank you for your dedication and help!
We held our very first Christmas party on Saturday, December 1st, 2012! Many door prizes were donated, the hall was beautifully decorated at the Countryview Golf Course, the room was filled with volunteers, adopters, fosters families and supporters.
The food was buffet style and absolutely delicious! The desserts were wonderful, everyone enjoyed their meal and were ready to enjoy the rest of the evening! Santa Claus stopped by for a quick visit to hand out a few doggie treats for the guests who had pets waiting for them at home. He made his way around to every table to say hi!
Cary Templeman provide the music and played a great selection for everyone to dance the night away! This night was another memory for us to cherish…..we were all brought together for the love of dogs. We look forward to the new year, 2013, as we continue to grow and save more lives. Thank you to everyone who came out to share this night with us, we are grateful for your friendships!
Enjoy a few pics from the evening…
